I was lucky enough to be able to go to “The Creative Craft Show’ at Event City in Manchester last week and it was brilliant! There were many stalls to look around and it gave me an idea of some other crafts I could try. I’m not a naturally creative person but there were some crafts that looked really good, one was the acetate design stall. I watched people put glue around shapes on acetate and then fill it in with different coloured glitter, they looked really affective. I very nearly bought a pack containing everything you needed to do it at home but then I thought what am I going to do with it after I’ve finished it! I think this is something I will try in the future though.
The other craft I liked the look of was Needle Felting, I have seen this before but I have never tried it. This was a very popular stall with many people sat around the table having a go, there was also a class you could book to learn how to do it but you had to pay extra for this. I have since bought a Needle Felting kit to have a go at it, so when I have done it I will show you how I got on, if it turns out ok that is!
Of course I had to make my way to the wool stalls, the brilliant shop called Black Sheep Wools were there and they had many yarn packs for sale, one I particularly liked was called ‘Nature’s Walk’, which was a CAL they had in October 2019. This is a beautiful blanket, but I didn’t buy the pack because [a] I have enough yarn here and [b] I have already got a yarn pack for the Rozeta blanket, by LillaBjornCrochet, which I haven’t even started yet. But I think the ‘Nature’s Walk’ blanket is one that I will be making at some point, it’s really pretty.
Another stall I came across was called Beltane Gifts which had some beautiful hat and scarf crochet kits and bag crochet kits plus many more. The thing that really caught my attention was the giant crochet hooks and knitting needles they had. I have only got small hands so I don’t think I would ever be able to use these haha! My sister bought one but I think she is only going to use it as an ornament, I can’t see what she could make with it! The lady who owned the stall kindly let me take some photo’s so as a thank you, I said I would mention her in this blog, I did tell her that I’m not famous though.
The next Creative Craft Show in Manchester is 3 – 5 September 2020 so no doubt I will be going to that again. I’m off now to try out the needle felting kit, I will show you the results.
