I hope you are all ok? I have been on Canva again and have made a blanket size chart to help you get an idea of what size blanket to make.
I mainly make baby blankets and each one I make turns out a different size! I start off ok with the right size but by the time I’ve added a border, they always end up a bit bigger. I don’t think they have to be the exact size that’s on the chart, I tend to use it as a guide.
Most of the blankets I have made are from the brilliant blog called ‘Attic24‘. Lucy, who owns the blog has some great blanket patterns and they can all be adapted to different sizes. This is a cosy stripe one I made from Attic24. The lady I made it for asked if I could make a green and mustard coloured blanket to go with her dark green pram. I think the colours go really well together and the mum was delighted, this is a photo she sent me.
Another blanket pattern I have made a few of is one I have mentioned before, the ‘Call The Midwife’ blanket, you can see the blog post I wrote about it HERE.
I have made many different blanket patterns, but my very favourite of all is the waffle stitch pattern. I absolutely love this pattern, once you get the hang of it , it is so easy to do. I have done a tutorial on how to do the waffle stitch, if you haven’t tried it before, have a go, I’m sure you will love it
This is one I made for my Pilates instructor to give to her new granddaughter. She is such a lovely lady and like me, she had a tough year last year, so I made this for her granddaughter and she was so touched. I made it using James C Brett Flutterby yarn, it is a chunky yarn and so, so soft, it made such a cuddly blanket!
Well I hope this Blanket Size Chart is helpful for you and don’t forget, the blankets don’t have to be the exact size, just use it as a guide.
Stay safe everyone! x
